AMAZING! That’s the word that comes to my mind when we talk about The MET @ Fry Road.
I have been around church my entire life, but I have never seen a whole congregation come together to help transform a school into a place of worship. The volunteers that we have are unreal. The guys who pull trailers for us meet at 5:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings and typically don’t get home until about 3:00 p.m. and they love every minute of it. The Power Team, our guys who set up and tear down, roll in at 6:00 a.m. and hit the ground running. The guys and ladies who are apart of this team had never meet before we started this campus. They came together and have thought through how to efficiently and effectively set up and tear down 8 trailer loads of stuff in 2 hours time. The Power Team pushes me, sometimes out of the way to get things done. They understand that without them, church would not happen. The Power Team consists of men, women, and students. Our students help set up the Student Lounge, upstairs above the main entrance, drive our volunteer shuttles, and help with watching children of other volunteers. We are always looking for additional help, so if you are interested, please let me know.
I am very excited about the opportunity God has given us all as we embark on the mission to share Jesus with the Fry Road/290 area. With this new start and no physical building to call our own, we will be doing ministry a little different. Students will have an area upstairs in Hopper Middle School to hangout before and after services and will be encouraged to serve in another ministry if they attend for both service hours. On Sunday nights, we will have our in-home Life Groups at MET member homes. We will begin by meeting at Huskies (Telge & West) to hang out and meet all the new students on Sunday, February 8th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday nights, our students will be encouraged to attend our student service at the Truth Student Building on Jones Road called Refuge. For the large ministry events (Disciple Now, camps, Girl's Events, etc.) we will partnering with the Jones Road campus. If you have any questions, or want to know how you can serve in the Student Ministry, please let me know.
