Awesome Haiti report from Loren Hill
"Had an incredible trip to Haiti, fantastic opportunities there. Saw over 800 patients, visited several mountain churches (no easy feat) and built a house for an earthquake victim. The American pastor there is an inspiration. Great place to take a team, with all aspects of ministry there.
Many of the people needing help got here on foot, donkey and horseback and waited up to three days in tents on the church compound with hope they would see a doctor and get the help they need. The team brought over $10,000 of medicines to help the people of this mountain town two hours outside of the capitol.
This is a new work to us, we are seeing it for the first time. The mission here oversees more than 2200 students in their network of schools, 60 orphans (mostly children who lost family during the earthquake), trade schools for the community, a bakery that makes and distributes free bread every day throughout the community, 16 churches, and numerous other ministries throughout the area. God has blessed this Baptist mission which started in 1945. The main pastor of this work is 74 years old. At the time a 56 year old businessman who in 1992 sold all of his land and businesses in Clarksville, TN and never looked back. I asked him if he made the right decision and without any hesitation said it was the best decision he ever made. Once the largest landowner in Montgomery county TN, now is penniless and depends solely upon God and His people. As he gave his testimony this morning he touched my heart and reminded me why we do what we do. I thought of my father also 74 when he died 3 months ago and how these men and their lives committed to Christ leave this earth with so little material things but have such meaning and great value in heaven. From what I see here in Haiti and watched at home through the life of my father there is truly no comparison living a life for Christ and others than living one for ourselves."
What could I possibly add...
